Announcing our Empowerment Fund! NEW INFO SESSION ADDED

We are pleased to announce Community LIFT's latest grant opportunity, the Empowerment Fund. The Empowerment Fund is designed to provide financial assistance to residents and grassroots organizations involved in community improvement work. Its purpose is to establish a network of resident leaders who are engaged and feel empowered to advocate for neighborhood revitalization that improves quality of life in Memphis’ under-resourced neighborhoods.

The Empowerment Fund will work in tandem with the CDC Capacity Fund. We firmly believe that the efforts of CDCs to impact communities are greatly increased when there is resident participation and civic capacity.

“Our new Empowerment Fund will heighten potential for real community change by putting more resources into the hands of those who are already serving their communities and have a vested interest in achieving positive outcomes,” said Nefertiti Orrin, Community L.I.F.T. Grants Director.

“We know that there are people currently leading neighborhood/community-based improvement projects or initiatives who are working tirelessly to make a difference but may lack support and/or recognition for their efforts. The Empowerment Fund is for them – to say that we see you, we believe in you and we want to support you,” Orrin stated.

Applications for the Empowerment Fund are open now. Residents, property or business owners, neighborhood associations, and/or grassroots, place based groups in Memphis are eligible to apply for up to $2500 in funding. Applicants must show evidence of resident/community support and attend a pre-application information session. Grant recipients will be notified and awards will be announced on August 31, 2017.
